SCAN PREPARATION
The following scans require preparation:
Pregnancy Ultrasound
A full bladder is recommended during the first and second trimester. This helps us see the uterus and the fetus more clearly. Start drinking approx 500 mls 1 hour prior to your scan and do not empty until after your scan.
Female Pelvic Ultrasound / Renal Ultrasound
You will need a full bladder, please follow the same instructions as the pregnancy ultrasound above.
Abdominal Ultrasound
You must not eat or drink for 4 hours prior to your appointment. You may drink water or juice and continue to take your regular medication.
MUSCULOSKELETAL scans
No preparation in necessary for these scans. Wearing comfortable clothing that is easy to remove. If you are female and having a Shoulder Ultrasound (Rotator Cuff), we recommend you wear singlet with shoulder straps with the rest of your normal clothing.
STEROID INJECTION
No prior preparation. A full medical history and consent form process will take place prior to the injection. An aftercare sheet will also be given.

ULTRASOUND GUIDED CORTISONE INJECTIONS AVAILABLE
Your ultrasound guided steroid injection with be performed by our Radiologist at our Papamoa clinic. Bookings are essential.
